Got the gut feeling that if I want to find a couple BJJ training partners locally, I'll have to find a site where BJJ alone is Job Number One, and sex is relegated to Job Number Two, three, or lower priority :( This is a great site for finding wrestlers, even body boxing; but I think many putting BJJ and other martial arts in their profiles are merely 'padding' the profile to appear more macho or whatever.
Given the lack of local interest to my query, either a lot of guys professing interest in bjj are not possessing it – or – one has to have sex appeal to find sporting action itself (With merely "ordinary" looks, never been known as a hot sex quest at any age).
I am not in the DC area but what surprises me is when I to practice with others should they get to my area (Las Vegas) many of the older grapplers here ignore me the same as the young ones do. Apparently some must think that if you are 68 (to be 69 soon) that you are ultra old and cannot possibly do BJJ. Funny thing is that in the 2 classes I take Monday-Friday, one gi, one no-gi those at my dojo do not have problem with my age. One would think that those in to BJJ would know better or at least be able to give the courtesy of a reply to an email on this site. Ho can we complain about no one to practice with when we are guilty f the very same discrimination ourselves?
Got to be real, and realize that guys our age generally lack sex appeal in the minds of younger folk; hence little interest. At the dojo, it is SPORT, not sex, which is Job Number One. I suspect the guys serious about MMA and have an affordable training venue, do their training there---but are here looking for merely playful MMA mixed with sex and going for the younger guys. Even older guys seek out the young; as for the hour or so together, it enables them to "feel young again" by association (analogous to a "contact high).
Update: Still looking for local action. Never received reply from anyone who has any kind of martial arts in their profiles (Tried all within about 50 miles) since posting here more than a year ago.. Looking for training – sex play is irrelevant. Can take it or leave it.
Still looking to get some experience in BJJ. It appears there are no local guys into it here. I suspect most those serious about it got to commercial facilities. I tried that a decade ago, but it was nearly $1,000 back then for 6 months (untenable for me) Have 106 sq ft matroom with mats on walls also and usually available.
I'm a white belt---and at this stage in life, probably will stay that way. Sure could use someone to train with here, even if we have to rely on books and Internet for what to practice with

New to the group so giving this a try. I am a purple belt in Jiu jitsu, don't get to roll as much as I use to but still want to keep active on the mats when possible. Have mats and can host a match. I am just outside of DC in VA. If you are in the area, or travel this way and want to roll let me know.
Am available most of the time if you get Arlington way. Eager for some learning, experience. Pics of matroom in gallery. Recommendations prove I'm real and quite active.
Still can't find anyone local into this. Maybe some unwritten rule that once past a certain age, unless you have an advanced belt, one is not supposed to do it. (Was told that once by a nearby school which went out of business not long after). Maybe time to forget about it here as well; but recommendations say otherwise–still strong and tough.
Been apprised I'd do better in some other part of the country; as when it comes to the fighting sports, Washington DC is referred to as WUSSington, DC. :) Was apprised by one that a not-as-large met area such as Memphis has a far more active scene.
