Seems like a waste of energy and resources unless there more to it than meets the eye? I liked the site because it was easy to navigate, keep track of who's who and search. Hopeful, it will be back up and running soon.
Agreed. I reached out to the admin to give sympathy and support for the arduous road he is now on. The Class act that he is responded - guessing he still needs time to absorb what happened to his passion and will wait to hear I can help. On a superficial level, the site went down as I was close to closing a match with a local guy - obviously it doesn’t compare to the overall loss everyone experienced. Best to him and all on such sites
That's sad news around the holiday season.
But he is right, the internet is a place full of attacks, bots and random individuals who try to destroy everything you created.
Every feature we add to MeetFighters requires a ton of work in the background to make it is secure.
That's one of the reasons we stop supporting older browser versions, who might not support the latest features for internet security.
I hope he is able to catch up on the latest internet security requirements - this is not an easy task; very challenging.
Good Luck!
Dam this is very very sad this was one of the first wrestling websites I ever used sadly the website gained less and less attention hardly anyone uses the site anymore but I know that person works hard to maintain and keep it up to date it’s sad to see others ruin the hard work of an individual
Actually there are lots of new pics, videos, links etc every month, so I'd not say that "hardly anyone uses the site anymore"!
If you're looking for personal ads and meeting people, maybe that's right, but for everything else it's still one of the best and more active, especially for those who love bearhugs above every other wrestling holds.
One of the best (and first!) wrestling sites is suddenly closed after some hacker attack!
Very bad news indeed. There are 1000s of pics, videos and stories on that awesome site, hope it's not all lost forever...
This is the message the owner posted two days ago, explaining what happened:
"The site was attacked and I unfortunately have to bring it down for an undetermined amount of time.
Don't worry, I am not throwing in the towel yet. I've worked hard in the past 20 years to maintain this site and there will always be malicious individuals that likes to damage the work of others just for the heck of it. At this point, it's more a question of time, knowledge and self-training for me to catch up with the latest technologies and information security, then come up with a redesign for the site.
I am sincerely sorry for not being able to keep the site up for longer. Think of it as a store front where somebody throws a stone through the looking glass and shatters it. Then the owner repairs it and somebody else throws a molotov cocktail... The reality is that web spaces are as vulnerable, if not to say, more vulnerable than public spaces.
I will try to post details and updates in the months to come. Please bear with me.
If you wish, you can contact me at [email protected] for more information, but please keep in mind that I have been very busy lately due to other issues, so my replies might be delayed.
