It is about respect gentlemen. Age has little to do with it, except it does seem, (and this makes me sound like my dad), that many of the younger wrestlers on this and any site were not taught that “manners make the man”. I don’t speak from outrage because frankly having wrestled younger and older opponents the older wrestlers are much more to my liking in a lot of ways, skill, attitude and integrity. The majority of flakes I’ve run into over my decades of wrestling were of a generation with no concept of manners or personal responsibility. LOL, last month a younger wrestler that contacted me, challenged me and then proceeded to ghost me and wrestle fronds that I had recommended to him. My solution? I prefer wrestlers of my generation. Let the kids learn that there is a price for that kind of behavior and if we are lucky enough we ALL grow older.
The only difference other than ageism which I have noticed here over the years is the excuses and lies. A person will say he is hurt but when you see a reccommendation for him the next day to/from another and with the new meetup notices the lie gets exposed. Another is that his schedule does not allow it. If that is the case, why list the alternate location for your travels? Not answering a simple email, pure lack of courtesy. Yes, we all get sick, injured, or travel plans change. Try honesty, it really works!
You completely ignored me when I said I was coming to Las Vegas this year...
You are full of it.
I always give people the politeness of a reply (unless they just send a dick pic)
I just checked and saw our exchange from 2022 and messages were answered. Calling someone "full of it" is wrong. If u disagree there are better ways o express this than this type of language.
When you go to the dojo regularly injuries are inevitable. Some of are even caused by the proximity of rolling near others in a very crowded mat space. I have had this happen a few times over the last 6 months. One person landed squarely on my foot as he was rolling. Definitely unintentional but is happened. It stretched a ligament I believe and I had to miss a week and take it easy for the next few. These things happen, it is part of the sport. For safety with just a few exceptions of those who visit from my dojo I limit home practice to technique practice/drilling/learning moves rather than live rolling for the most part even though I have 2.5 cm, thick puzzle mats that cover and area of about 3m X 3m. Injuries may damopen my enthusiasm for the day but so far they have nit kept me from participating onc ethey heal. The other members of my dojo can easily vouch for that. Hope this explains everything. Thanks
Yes, you did everything but talk honestly... you gave me LV tourist information that I could/did look up online.
You are full of it. And I can reproduce your dismissive comments...
This original post was before covid. Covid made this MUCH worse. It made everyone a pic collector, i.e. not ever interested in meeting, and your profile is treated as an only fans. Hence the dawn of watchfighters.
People not only can't make a meeting, they often cannot even have complete conversations or even respond at all to anything.
I guess the other side to this is when another wrestler ignores your messages, comments etc. after contacting you, and then complains about not getting matches and others not responding.
This type of stuff has been going 0n for years. Even before the wrestling websites. When wrestling matches were created in local wrestling clubs or wrestling contact lists. There were always guys who like to talk a good game, but then when it comes to action there’s a lot of no shows. You just have to roll with the punches. Just remember you can also block people. If contact someone and they say they’re not interested I block them, so that I won’t contact them again by mistake. Yes there are some men who use this site like a dating site, because maybe they’re into wrestling as well, and want to have a date with another wrestler. The can have a wrestling date. Then there are the curious men who want to see what MeetFighters is all about, and the men who are on it. Whenever you set up a match with someone you always take the chance that the won’t follow through. That is why I try not to make hotel matches unless I’m already staying in one for trips or business. Myself if I make a commitment to someone I usually follow through, and if I can’t I always try to give them a day’s notice. Being in this wrestling community we all have have patience and pick out our opponents wisely.
We get them all the time in Fort Lauderdale. I do not know how to stop it or how we can encourage some of these websites to stop this kind of behavior. I talked to a guy for a match and he blocks me without saying 3 sentences.
According to your profile, you've been on the site for 18 days as of this post. You've managed to connect with ten people.
You aren't really looking for serious matches but instead hope to find guys for some "viewing and gentle roll around". You successfully met up with 2 guys for this. A 20% success rate right out of the gate! Just about 1 meet-up per week.
That doesn't seem too bad. In fact, if I'm being completely honest, it seems shockingly good.
Is it possible that you've got slightly unrealistic expectations for this site? Perhaps you can give us a sense for what you were expecting to happen when you joined? Did you anticipate meet ups every other day? (Maybe you did....fair enough. But a lot of guys here complain about barely finding 1-2 per year.)
Also, just a suggestion: I do know that some guys find it helpful to tag former opponents and write recommendations after matches. That tends to grow the credibility of your profile when others can verify your style and match expectations. So you might try that as well.
The biggest issue is still ageism and other bigotry. in a city such as Las Vegas with 24/7 transit in many areas and transit to 1am in most other areas meeting up should be easy. If one is providing mats even easier. Overcoming irrational prejudices though is hard.
Hate to share this experience to contradict yours, but actually most of the no shows and people living a wrestling fantasy from my experience are older guys - many of whom don't seem to be able to see beyond the next online w*&k and don't seem to imagine that you might REALLY want to wrestle.
Within 2 weeks of joining Meetfighters I had received 10 requests from guys asking for a meeting.
Many of them from members of this "Wrestlers over age 50" group.
So far only 2 of them have showed up.
The others have either made lame excuses about not actually being able to meet because of - "my work", "my car","my wife", "my diary" or "I have to take my pussy to the vet" (!) or "I'm still thinking about it".
Seems to me that Meetfighters has its fair share of TIMEWASTERS just like all the other dating sites.
Does anyone agree with me?
I totally agree with you..3 no shows this week...promises, promises, delays, then silence, silence, silence..there are those on this site, based on past experience that seem to enjoy screwing with people this way. Some will show past opponents, some won't. Of course ageism is a MAJOR problem on this site as well.
2 meets within 2 weeks is fantastic! Sounds like your expectations are a bit high. There are plenty of flakes and fakes... comes with the territory. And this is not primarily a "dating" website.
Of course folks are here for different reasons..... BUT< IF this is not a "dating" sight, there is then no need for sexual designations, private pics of private parts, sexual preference or "want sex or not want sex"....because strictly wrestling, frankly, requires knowing none of that...or even what someone looks like...not if wrestling is ALL you're after here. So......
Have had people email me back and forth, then on the day we are scheduled to meet get blocked. Another case a guy says he is on his way and then gives me excuses of being "stuck in traffic" but the traffic website shows no traffic, then his radiator broke down, etc etc...hours of this nonsense...would be nice if he just cannot make it or no longer interested or similar but to make me thing he is enroute when he is not is quite cruel. I gave him and told him that as a courtesy would not list him as a no show but still no apology or explanation. He lives only 8 km away.
