seriously average
I've recently discovered the interesting Statistics section here on MeetFighters and am amazed at just how very, very average I am. I mean, anyone who's wrestled me knows that, but well, I really am seriously average:-
- age: mean 41 years; median 40 years; me 42 years (2.4% older than average)
- height: mean and median 5' 10"; me 5' 11" (1.4% taller than average)
- weight: mean 180 lbs; median 176 lbs; me 185 lbs (2.8% heavier than average)
- BMI: mean 26; median 25; me 25.6 (2% slimmer than average)
The only area where I'm not spectacularly average is, apparently, in my number of past opponents:-
- past opponents: mean 6 past opponents; median 1 past opponent; me 29 past opponents
And this is what's really interesting (rather than very average me): if the mean number of past opponents is 6 but the median is just 1, that's a massive number of guys who've gone to the trouble of setting themselves up a MeetFighters profile but who've never actually wrestled (boxed/fought/whatever) someone off here. Really? That just seems such a shame. I've been having such a great time meeting and wrestling some amazing lads on my seven months on this awesome site, and I wish I'd found it years ago, it seems like such a pity to me to register on MeetFighters to, well, meet fighters and then, erm, not.... OK, not everyone's as lucky as me to live in a very accessible big city with lots of keen wrestlers and lots of matrooms to get to grips with them but c'mon guys---a median of one past opponent?!
If there's a point to this blogpost it's this: can I encourage you, if you're on this site and you've not asked anyone else on it for a match yet, go on, do it. Look at the profile of someone who looks more-or-less compatible, send them a message, meet them and wrestle! (Or box, or whatever floats your boat.) Go on. I'm sure you'll have just as good a time as this seriously average wrestler....

01/4/2016 13:33Now guys, back off..... hugefan must have meant me!! lol
.
But actually its a good point made in the blog about getting out there and doing it.The first is deffo the most difficult.
.
Can I suggest that people dont want to explain their concerns, for fear of seeming negative, but just tell the potential wrestler how it is.... about limits, constraints and concerns etc.
.
Even a bit of background personal information, like timescale restriction, "other halves" etc etc can give a better understanding and might bring about a meet.
Saying nothing and just winging it can often mean a no show.
.
More communication and more information = more real time meets....... and I have met about 80 guys from here in total.

23/5/2015 22:31Maybe i missed this blog first time round. Certainly I am not "average" for this site,
weight and age in particular.
Has made me think that I should be more pro-active in finding someone to try some more wrestling

28/4/2015 8:11Shame there is no statistic for best jobber, best noise maker or most responsive nipples or you would be top of the pile and definitely above average in looks and body.

Hugefan, if that comment was meant for me, thanks I think. I guess it's a compliment. If you'd like to send me a private message I'll certainly reply. Dan

31/3/2015 12:24That's an interesting statistic. It also means that just a few of the members are getting the great majority of the matches. Unfortunately I find it extremely difficult to find a real match. My inability to host is undoubtably a part of the reason, but those of your who get a lot of matches seem to overcome that problem.
Maybe this post will generate a few inquiries from people who live close enough to me (just south of Washington DC) to make a meeting realistic.
Thanks for your post, it was very well articulated.
